Cosa dire degli Scott & Charlene’s Wedding? Il loro nome (un omaggio alla soap opera australiana Neighbours) è a dir poco assurdo, l’allampanato frontman Craig Dermody ha il fisico del ruolo del perfetto sfigato e la copertina del nuovo album, come sempre, sconcerta per la sua disarmante bruttezza. Eppure, nonostante simili presupposti, il terzo disco della band di Melbourne, Mid Thirties Single Scene, si rivela essere un (piccolo) capolavoro, forte di gioielli come Hardest Years, Bush e Distracted, che declinano la lezione dei Velvet Underground nella rilettura stralunata e surreale del grande Jonathan Richman e dei suoi Modern Lovers, con un pizzico del furore proto-punk di Iggy Pop. INCREDIBILE.
