Il nuovo lavoro di Kathryn Williams, ispirato da The Bell Jar, unico romanzo della poetessa Sylvia Plath, è composto da otto brani firmati dalla Williams e uno (Cuckoo), ispiratissimo, scritto a quattro mani con l’ottimo Ed Harcourt, anche produttore dell’album. Nato su commissione, Hypoxia è tuttavia straordinariamente personale e sentito e l’artista inglese riesce a infondere nella propria musica la potenza e l’onestà, a volte brutale, delle pagine del romanzo. Le trame sonore utilizzate, classicamente folk, risultano fresche e originali e la voce di Kathryn, abbandonata a tratti la propria soavità, si fa più tagliente e idiosincratica. STAVOLTA IL CONNUBIO TRA MUSICA E LETTERATURA DÀ VITA A UN LAVORO MIRABILE.
